The fast-moving world of technology is pacing to cater to the recent trends, and thus the Govt. is trying its best to control and develop various aspects of it.
The boom in the technological arena post-COVID has paved paths for new advancements in the IT Sector each day. To cope with the scenarios, the government is at no lag. The recent initiatives taken by the Government have led the administration to take things digitally. The following initiatives have contributed much towards the improvement in the field:
India is positioning itself as a significant player in the global AI landscape with the AI India mission. It was launched in 2023 by the Government of India with a budget allocation of over ₹10,300 crore. The key components include establishing AI computing infrastructure, innovation centers, dataset platforms, application development, FutureSkills programs, and startup financing. The mission aims to establish India as an AI leader while guaranteeing ethical implementation and broad accessibility of AI advantages.
Technology Adoption Fund: A 5-billion-rupee ($57.58 million) fund was launched by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) in February 2025 to support early-stage space technology startups while promoting innovation and reducing import dependence.
Private Sector Participation: To boost its global space industry standing the government supports private businesses in creating launch vehicles formerly produced by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act of 2023 remains an unenforced legislation. The legislation seeks to shield individual personal data while addressing public privacy concerns. The legislation sets responsibilities for data fiduciaries and establishes rights for data principals while detailing penalties for failing to comply as it works to protect individual privacy and advocate for proper data handling in the digital economy. The CCI blocked WhatsApp from sharing user data with Meta companies for advertising and fined it $25.4 million for antitrust violations stemming from its 2021 privacy policy.
The government has actively supported sustainable transportation by implementing FAME I and II Schemes. The initiatives offer financial benefits to encourage electric vehicle usage which targets pollution reduction and minimizes fossil fuel dependence. The Indian electric vehicle market expanded substantially through increased sales with greater involvement from local manufacturers. The analysis of EV sales figures, for 2023 in the paper reveals market patterns and consumer behavior tendencies. This paper reveals India’s present electric vehicle scenario to help better understand its shift toward sustainable transportation alongside its impact on energy resources and environmental and economic sectors.
India is strengthening global partnerships to enhance technological capabilities, for example, U.S.-India Strategic Technology Collaborations, where high-level visits, such as that of the U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan in early 2025, focused on cooperation in defense, space, and AI, reflecting India’s commitment to globaltechnological integration. India and the U.S. launched a technology initiative in 2022 outlining collaboration on semiconductor production and developing artificial intelligence. The accord was critical in sealing a deal to allow U.S.-based General Electric to partner with India’s Hindustan Aeronautics to produce jet engines in India.
These measures launched by the Government focus on the digitalization of policies and stay at par with the technical concept. In today’s world, where every aspect of public life is open on the internet, it is very crucial for the government to be updated with the newest trends and to bring it into the realm of governance. By catering to privacy concerns and working towards the development of the IT sector, it is focusing on boosting an individual’s life in particular and establishing India on a global forum, in general.
